A question on fuel consumption: Does it save more fuel to idle than to turn engine off?
As the prices of petroleum products soar, more and more people are searching for answers on how to limit their car’s fuel consumption. There is one question that needs to be answered:
Does it save more fuel to idle than to turn your engine off?

While it is true that when idling, you car consumes less fuel than actually driving, excessive idling can burn more fuel than what most people believe.
Most car models have an adjustable idling—turn it up and you will have more engine power but I will consume more fuel, turn it lower and you will have less power and less consumption.
Now most of us are guilty of leaving our car engines on when we have to do some quick chores like picking the kids up or getting your orders from a local shop.
The truth is excessive use of idling can even damage our cars not to mention that health risks that accompany it.
Leaving your engines on while parked on a basement of a building can cause accident.
As the emissions from your car accumulate, the carbon monoxide will enter into your air conditioning and can suffocate you almost instantly.
Turning your engines off may prove to be the best option between the two as you can save as much as 19 percent efficiency.
Now if it’s cold and you need to warm up your engine, a good option is to get you car moving.
Now you’ll know what to answer if anyone asks if it does save more fuel to idle than turn your engine off.

How much gas does the average car consume while idling?
I seen 21% increase in my truck in better gas mileage and can help the environment a lot burn 99.99% clean and you can possibly get up to 25% increase in mileage and after 3 oil changes many reported you can go 2-3 times longer if not satisfied you can return unused portion and get full refund.
You did a good job helping explain the dangers of the do’s and don’ts to letting your vehicle idle. In the winter here, I know it’s much better to drive your car and work the engine so that it can warm up faster. Letting it idle will obviously not work the engine, causing more harm than good. Great post to have out there, thanks!
